Loreto College Kenpo Karate School junior students Lynn Devitt and Maurice McCabe were winners at the American Kenpo Karate Systems' (AKKS) European Open Kenpo Karate Championships in Jersey, the Channel Islands. Devitt, a blue belt, took first place in the forms competition while her green belt clubmate was second in his forms division.

Driver Barney Coleman travelled to jersey in the Channel Islands recently for the European Kenpo Championships. 1,200 competitors from 14 countries, representing 30 martial arts associations, took part.

Dublin black belts Alan Corrigan and Freda Roberts were winners at the American Kenpo Karate Systems European International Kenpo Karate Championships in Dublin's National Basketball Arena. Corrigan took second in the 3rd degree black belt and above kata competition, while Roberts won first place in the senior female kata competition.
